I've just had another thought about this. Because of the bioload, especially the Wrasse and other carnivorous fish, a Sulfur Denitrator would be a very good investment.
Carnivorous fish eat bugs, bugs that would have eaten algae if their numbers had not been depleted by the fish. Bugs like Grammerus(Amphipods) and Copepods eat little sprouts of algae before they are large enough to see and even before they are large enough sprouts for a snail to graze.
I should add that these carnivorous fish occasionally eat snails and hermits, making algae control an uphill battle in a tank such as this.
The missing algae that cannot grow because of the denitrator, can be replaced by feeding Nori and lettuce to the herbivorous fish.
Aloha,
Mark

P.S. I believe that because of a combination of factors, some of which have been mentioned, this algae problem was just waiting to happen. There is sometimes a lag between the cause and the effect. I see that here. I also believe, because of your diligent TLC, this tank will be getting better and better.
