February Tank of the Month
Bruce Ewald

I know I've said this before! This month's tank is COOL. But this month's tank is double cool! Bruce Ewald has two tanks. One large, stunning tank full of wonderful underwater life resides in his living room. Around the corner, in the dining room, is his small nano-tank. It's a striking contrast of two incredible aquarium styles.

Bruce's large tank is 125 gallons of brilliant, eye catching wonderment. It is brightly lit with a combination of 2 VHO super actinic lights and 2 175 watt metal halides. It is filtered with a 4" deep sand bed and an under-the-tank 40 gallon sump, which includes a Reverse Daylight Refugia. What a fantastic place for a large blonde Naso tang to swim all day long!

Contrasting the large tank, Bruce's nano-tank is spectacular. Weighing in at only 10 gallons, this tank easily beats the competition. It is lit with 55 watt power compacts. It is filtered with a 2.5" deep sand bed, a skilter 250, and a 3 gallon below -the- tank reverse daylight refugia. This tank is the perfect place for Bruce's bubble tip anemone, which has already split!

Bruce is one of my favorite WMAS members, always willing to help other members with his very knowledgeable expertise. Fish have been a passion for Bruce his whole life, entering the saltwater arena about two years ago. His latest ambition is large polyp stonies, which look gorgeous in his care. He has been a WMAS member for over a year.
Thanks, Bruce!
