My first meeting and i must say im very happy !! I hope to attend more in the future!! now to my ? im from wyo and purchased a crocea clam and got it home to find a aptasia on the edge of the rim of its closing edge . my ? is what is the best way to remove it safely for the clams safety?and thank all of you for your responses this is the best site for marine info on the web!!!
Clams seem to be immune to aptasia stings so there's no danger it will hurt your clam. You don't want it multiplying though, so remove it as soon as you can. Aptasia are sometimes hard to find out of the water- they retract into a little slimy ball, so make sure you know the exact spot it is before you take your clam out. Where in Wyoming are you?
We know each other. We are both line supervisiors at CFT. When I am on day shift he is on night shift. We have worked together and been friends for about 5 or 6 years. He is the one that actually got me started. Mark (gobie) got started when someone gave him a 5 gallon bowfront.
