Topic: Not feeding fish Posted: April 21 2009 at 10:03pm |
I work at a place where we take care of people fighting for their lives. We have the most beautiful, live coral tank in the main waiting room, with 3 cardinal fish, 2 yellow tangs, 2 clown fish, 1 naso tang, 3 yellow tail damsels, 2 baby chromis, ass. shrimp, and snails. a hippo tang and an urchant. (With a couple of fish I don't really know the name. Anyway, the incompetent losers that "service" the tank only want these fish fed TWICE a week, on Tues. and Thurs. When THEY do it. These poor fish go at least 4 days without food. I take care of these fish the best I can but I have been TOLD not to feed them because, well frankly these lazy degenerates don't want to clean the filters. Which, by the way, they get PAID to do, they want this 500 gallon tank to, and I quote,"be an ocean". I know quite alot about fish and tanks. I have NEVER in my life heard anything so absolutly rediculous in my life. Anyone got any advice on how I handle this? Thanks for your time.

as some one that takes care of someone eleses fish i to only feed twice a weak and dont want anyone eles feeding the tank
the reason for this is when i took over the tank it was a mess alge everywhere i have spent to much time and efert to have the tank go back to the way it was
i could feed more but then i would have to spend more time there cleaning filters and what not
but they do not want to pay for that and they do not want me there during work hours so you have to trade off over feed and have a mess or feed just enugh that the fish are healthy and the tank stays clean
you could ask to take over the tank for them and then you could feed when you want and you could deal with all the uo keep of the tank

I didn't read all the posts above so this may have been said...
Many people feed their fish once per week... some feed even less. I'm not sure who is taking care of that tank but they may know what they're doing.

Just read the posts above... although most of them were not on topic ...
just saying again that some experts out there advocate feeding weekly. I've also heard many people give the advice "feed less and your tank will look better"

Its Keith's FAULT!!!!
Other than my Sting Ray I belive my fish would do very well with much less food. My pocket book for sure.
If this is the tank I think it is it is a gourgous tank. Been up for many many years and is maintained much better than my own tanks.

Welcome gak4zach!
I have gone both directions on this. Currently I feed every other day. I can tell no difference in the health of the fish.

I'm the exception. I feed every day probably 5 or 6 times a day and nori is ALWAYS available when the lights are on.

Ok, you guys got me thinking (boy is it giving me a headache), I feed everyday and it seems like the worms have been in major breeding mode, baby worms everywhere. Is this normal or is it because I'm over feeding my tank? Would a six line wrasse eat some of these baby worms?
