Well take about not wasting time. The last batch hatched the night of 3-26 and starting at 6pm and completed by 6:45 on 4-1-2009, I have another full clutch.... I really did'nt think it would be so soon so I didnt get anything in there for them to have the eggs on.

Thanks Adam, I think keeping track will keep me get these to someone who can raise them, at least next time....

OLD POST

My clowns lay & hatch eggs twice a month. I can always tell when they are close to hatching due to the "wolf" pack that hovers close.

They are on a huge rock covered with acros so I cant take it out. What are the odds I could take them off the rock when they are almost ready and give them to someone else to raise?

It is fresh food but I feel so bad everytime this happens. Dad works so hard to keep them healthy and for nothing more and a buffet for everyone else.

From what I've read, you would have to remove the rock the eggs are on, making sure the eggs never touch air and putting them into a tank with the same water from the tank they came from.  I read and read and there's no way to remove just the eggs.  Someone with more exp may differ but when I studied up on it that's what I found.

They hatched last night. So how long will it be before they lay again? I have never really timed it they are just always there.

Keep feeding them and just watch.  In about 2 weeks you'll see eggs.  After a few months you'll know "their schedule" and you'll be able to figure out the exact day they will hatch.
I remember a couple times when Dave Tea would be saying "yep, next thursday at 11pm I'll be catching the next bunch."  Once you figure out how long in between hatches you'll be all set for catching them that night.

Persia,

I have the same situation.  My guys lay the eggs on the back glass every few weeks or so and they just get eaten.

Can they be taken off of the back glass?

You are welcome to them when they are ready (I'm in Logan)  I really would like to find them a good home, if you know of anyone.  Cinnamon Clowns; female is about 5”; male is about 2"

hey zions you cannot remove them from the glass or they will die
instead place a clam shell or a ceramic tile where the lay maybe the will like that as it usualy is smoothe surfaces that they love for anyone here i have no problem raising clown babys i will even come collect them hatch nite if close to me but i do need about 2 weeks notice before i take the first babys as one of my cultures crashes and need to get in up again and dont want to do that unless i have babys to raise for sure cuz my black and whites are stubborn and wont lay yet lol !!!!! oh logan is it the mated pair you want to find a home for or just the babys
