I have just completed a canopy for my 65g, and I have a few questions.    When I install my 250w mh pendant style light, do I need to cool it with a fan?     The back of the canopy is open and the top is mostly open.    any ideas?   I tried to wire an old computer fan to a plug and am pretty sure it is ruined, lots of burnt smelling smoke.

i dont have fans in my hood, you could put one over the sump.
pitiful guppy tank.

Did you plug the pc fan into 120Vac? Usually the pc fans are 12Vdc.... but radioshack does carry some 120Vac pc style fans if you feel you need cooling.
