I got some free Chemi-Pure Elite at the reef fest and am wondering if anyone has ever used this product before?

Good?  Bad?

Used it in the media basket on my 29 Biocube and loved it. Made for crystal clear waters.

I use it in both my nanos. I really like it, probably nothing more than high grade carbon though. The elite has gfo in it as well to help with phosphates.

Great news to hear!  How often does it need to be changed out with fresh stuff?

I would not use it, especially not continuously. That media has been the source of more problems than any other media available to the hobby. This is the past experience of many people that were in this club. I'd only use it to take care of specific pollution problems like what I recommended PhotoGlen do to get rid of some persistent pollution caused by re-introducing some old dead LR.

+1 I use Chemipure and have only good things to say. No problems so far. To be safe you could chmage out the bag every couple months instead of 4-5. I didn't read any post on this thread that said they had problems with Chemi-Pure other than you Mark. Sounds like you are out numbered. Booooya

If this were a democracy or an opinion poll, yes I am outnumbered.LOL But thankfully, science does not answer to a polling booth.Thumbs Up

The fact is, many people have come to this board over the past 8.5 years of it's existence claiming problems with their tank that we traced back to Chemi-Pure. When used continuously it removes elements that should not be removed and sometimes adds elements back in that should have stayed removed. There is a lot more science to it than that, if you would care to learn more about ion exchange.Geek

So that means it should be replace more frequently to prevent any leaks, Elements that are remove dosent other type of carbon remove it, or is it the phosphate part of this product that remove elements that carbon cannot remove?
