Topic: Green Egg Crate Posted: December 13 2008 at 11:45am |
Most of us know and have used the light diffuser found at home depot, that we call egg crate. I have seen a similar product that is much more robust (possibly made out of fiberglass), and is usually green in color. Does anybody know what this product is called and where I can buy it?

Dang, that is something that both you and I should know off the top of our heads. I'll go find it.
By the way, I wouldn't use it.

Looks. I'm not a fan of the platforms. I'd go pvc, or even drilling rocks with rods. That green stuff seems difficult to hide and anywhere you don't cover it really stands out (as opposed to the white egg crate).
I think that stuff is called like Chem Crate or Chemmicrate or something like that?

It is for my sump, so I really don't care how it looks. I need to make a sturdy "cage" so I can keep my live rock away from my pump intake.

Still can't find it. Anybody know what it is? Don't force me to go to reef central to ask a question.

Interesting. I thought it would have been easier to find on Google.

Me too......I did dozen of search and couldn't find it. The problem was I was using crate instead of grate (egg create through me off).
Oh, and I like the new avatar.

If you have difficulty finding that stuff (or it's $200 per sheet) have a look at old milk crates or bread trays at grocery stores. Next time your at the grocery store have a look back behind the building. You'll likely see a few old crates/trays laying around. Just ask the manager if you can have one. I've used that stuff in DIY pond filters in the past. It's very strong and didn't cost my anything.
