If you use copper can you use any of the power heads or heaters you used while doin the treatment again? Or the buckets used? Is there a way to decontaminate them?

I think you'd be fine.  Substrate is the real worry.... getting copper out of sand is tough.

My understanding is most of the time "chelated Copper" is used. This means it resists precipitation and adsorption by aquarium substrates. I have heard that if you rinse things well enough, you can re-use plastics/glass products. But you will NEVER get it out of substrate and porous materials.

However, compared to the investment you will be putting into a reef aquarium, the cost of replacing power heads, heaters, and buckets is fairly minimal. If you can swing it, I would go ahead and replace what you can.

If you are going to replace powerheads heaters and buckets, I'll take them. They don't cause problems for me.
