ok I have a 96 watt power comp. over a 10 inch tall fish tank it is 14 inches above the bottom of the tank  so here is the question

can I grow softies ie ricordia or do I have too much light?

sigustions of what to grow?

it is a dwarf seahorse tank aproximatly 8 gallons with 25ish seahorses

Ahhh a quad 96 - of course. That explains why my mind was having difficulties making sense of the look versus the dimensions and capacity.
Come over anytime and get a small sprig of red algae to try and I'll give you several types of tall Caulerpa.
If the phyto is alive and the light is bright enough, a phyto bloom will soon occur, like the one I had in the tank below. This was not the first time, nor the last that I had to deal with a phyto bloom in a new tank.

Squamosa and Crocea Clams cleared the water in about 3 days. A UV Sterilizer works quickly too.
