Topic: Portable RO DI Water System Posted: August 07 2012 at 4:31pm |
|
Is there a decent portable RO DI Water System on the market? By portable I am thinking of something that is not hard plumbed in, but when you want to make water for your tank you can somehow attach the system to an adaptor to a faucet and let it create however many gallons you want and then "unplug" it and put it away until you want to make more water? Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? I'm Ok purchasing my water from my LFS for my Biocube, but as soon as I move up to something larger or add another tank to my house I am going to want to be able to make my own water.

You can buy a sink faucet adapter that will make most any RO / DI unit "portable"

Thank you! My next question is does it matter if the internal filtration system dries out in between making water? I can imagine that I would make water once a week and that would be it!

I purchased a portable RODI unit last week. It is scheduled to be here any time between yesterday and friday. My water isn't super bad, so I just got a 3 stage, 75gpd system. It has a connector on it to connect to a hose. I plan on running it periodically to fill up a 46g rubbermade garbage can. You are welcome to come by and see it (when it gets here), but I live in South Jordan. Here is the link: Portable RO/DI Unit

Well, I made about 10g last night. It went quicker than I expected. I took a sample in to The Aquarium to be tested....and...the guy couldn't test it, said the TDS meter was broken.
