I love it . I had fine sand that would blow around easy so I had m y mp40´s at 65 % and my sand was a bit of a nutrient trap anyways. Now I have my mp40's at 90% and everything loves it.

Aloha, Do your bare bottom tanks have a Refugium sand bed with all it's bugs and worms that spawn to feed the coral/inverts? I'm just curious, because that would seem to be a good thing, like imitating a tall coral head high above the sand as at this reef in Hawaii. Mahalo, Mark

The hobbyists I have known with bare bottom tanks always complained about that very thing. Some resorted to placing a powerhead shooting across the bottom to keep the detritus in suspension until it could be eaten by inverts/coral or could overflow and be removed by the filter bag. Sounds like Ryanscott uses that principle for his tank.

I saw a tank where the bottom was basicaly self-made rock that LOOKED like sand. So, no matter how much water ciculation he had, there was no sand storms. He did have lots of sand in his refugiums. It was pretty cool.
