Won't they let loose of the rock sometimes and float around till they find a new home?

I have never had a mushroom let loose and move. I will bet it got blown somewhere in the tank. Check behind the rocks, etc.

None of those fish eat Mushrooms. Even a Rock Crab would not usually eat the entire mushroom. It would rather chew on it a little bit every day. If you find snail shells coming up empty too often, it's a Rock Crab.

Mushrooms do jump and go on a walkabout. Don't worry, call and come visit me and I'll give you something to replace the Mushroom on the walkabout in your tank.

What size tank? What is the Alk and Ca of this tank? If you don't know, bring a water sample and I'll test it for you, free.Smile

BTW the Striped and Velvet Damsels will become the terrors of the tank and they get huge too. Are you prepared for that?

My rabbitfish has a taste for mushrooms, zoanthids, and a lobophyllia.  Go figure.  Good thing I have acros and montipora...

I have red mushrooms springing up all over my tank, even in the overflows, so I wouldn't worry about it. I started out with a small fist sized rock that was covered with them about 18 months ago and they have multiplied like crazy. The original rock is now very crowded with them, so they routilnely detach and blow around the tank until they find a place they like. Hopefully yours will find a place it likes and start a colony as well.
